Elements are a mechanic inFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Certainabilities andcombat arts have an element assigned to them. Each element has a different effect.

Fire
Attacks imbued with theFire element inflict the
Burning status effect on their targets. They periodically take damage and take more damage from attacks while the effect is active. TheEssence of Fire ability increases the damage,range, and infliction rate of attacks imbued with the fire element.

Shocked status effect on their targets. This periodically prevents them from moving and makes them deal damage to nearby foes if they are launched into the air. TheEssence of Lightning ability increases the damage,range, and infliction rate of attacks imbued with the lightning element.

Attacks imbued with theLight element do not inflict a special status effect. Instead, many attacks imbued with it have anHP absorbing effect. TheEssence of Light ability increases the damage dealt by attacks imbued with the light element.

Spellbound status effect on their targets. This makes them slower, reduces theirdefense andresistance, and prevents their guard from blocking damage. TheEssence of Darkness ability increases the damage,range, and infliction rate of attacks imbued with the darkness element.

Combat arts and spells imbued with Darkness
Mechanics
Each elemental attack has a random chance to inflict its respectivestatus effect that is determined by thaability orcombat art used. Additionally, the respective Essence ability can increase the infliction rate in addition to the range and damage dealt by the respective element's attacks.
Everymonster enemy has an element as one of its weak points. If the monster is attacked with that respective element, the associatedstun gauge will slowly deplete and, once it is fully depleted, the player will be able to perform aCritical Rush which is guaranteed to deplete the remainder of the monster's current health bar.
