Eir (Japanese:エイルEir) is a princess of an underworld-themed kingdom, and a character who debuts as a major protagonist in Book III ofFire Emblem Heroes.
Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
There are three different variations of Eir available to Heroes, both of which are tied to her storyline appearance inHeroes. The normal variation of Eir is the first Mythic Hero, added to the cast of the game at the launch of Book III, and is the first original character introduced in that book to be playable; the normal variation of Eir was made available for summoning as part of the first Legendary Hero summoning focus released on December 11, 2018, the day after the Book II update, and a 5★ Eir can also be obtained by clearingChapter 1 of Book III (released the day prior). A New Year's-themed variation of Eir was added to the game as part of theRenewed Spirit update, and was made available to players in the twenty-third edition of theTempest Trials+, "Mid-Fest Digest", which initially ran from January 3, 2020 through January 14, 2020. An ascended variation of Eir had information as a playable unit added thePrincess and Prince update and was made available for summoning as part of a summoning event released on October 17, 2022.
In Book III,Hel gives Eir the order to return to the living world in order to gain the inhabitants' trust, then kill them all. Eir is reluctant, but follows her orders anyway. She secretly escapes Hel's realm and battles the Order of Heroes, but is defeated. After her defeat, she requests thatAlfonse kill her, but he refuses because he does not want to kill someone who willingly surrenders their life. Eir settles for being taken prisoner by the Order instead.
Just before Alfonse meets his father,Gustav, Eir expresses her desire to fight alongside the Order, though she refuses to explain why. This makesAnna suspicious, but she agrees to her request, on the condition that Eir be killed if she shows any sign of betrayal.
Eir provides exposition about Hel and her realm to the Order as they make their way to Hel's dominion; she witnesses her mother kill Gustav along the way. In Hel's realm, Eir reveals that she was descended from a divine dragon, allowing her to revive the next day after she is killed. Hel exploited this ability by killing Eir once every day to increase her power until Eir was down to her last life. Shortly after, Hel appears to Eir to remind her of her mission, with Eir starting to have second thoughts about it since the Order treated her kindly.

| Eir was one of Hel's elite soldiers during the attack on Askr—but now she's a steadfast friend to the Order of Heroes! | It's only natural that she's celebrating the New Year with us, and she's come in a spectacular outfit to boot. With her special seasonal garb and her demure, pallid appearance, she looks truly otherworldly. (I guess she actually is from another world, in a way, but you know what I mean.) | Instead of her customary weapon, Lyfjaberg, she's carrying a charming embroidered accessory to go with her outfit. You know, I think it suits her delicate look a lot better. | Eir knows all too well how fragile life can be, and that's why she can truly appreciate the warmth of the realm of the living. Let's work together to make sure we all live long and happy lives, Eir! | ||||||||||

| When we first met Eir, the princess of the realm of the dead, she'd been ordered to infiltrate Askr. Eir rebelled against Hel, and ever since then, she's been helping out the Order of Heroes! | Eir is a merciful soul who feels conflicted about taking lives—in fact, she was once the princess of the realm of life, which was vanquished by Hel. | When the realm of life fell, Eir was taken away to the realm of the dead, losing her memories in the process. But now she's been granted new strength by Ymir, the guardian dragon of the realm of life, and stands reborn, brimming with vitality! | Here's her new outfit, teeming with life's essence! Eir once guided people to death, but now she protects life itself. With a fresh start in life, new battles await! | ||||||||||

| Here's Ymir, protector of the realm of life, and Eir, a former princess of the realm of the dead who's now a princess of Ymir's realm! They're joining us for a tropical-island vacation in their stylish beach outfits. | Both outfits hint at their personalities: Ymir's is a brilliant green, while Eir's is a sleek and quiet black. | The tropical flowers give their swimsuits a certain vitality, don't you think? And that drink in Ymir's hand sure looks refreshing! | Ymir and Eir hope to one day revive the realm of life after its destruction by the realm of the dead. Hopefully this beach break helps them gather the strength to realize their dreams! | ||||||||||
