Eda (Japanese:エダEda) is a playableDragon Rider inFire Emblem: Thracia 776.

Biography

Eda was an apprentice wyvern rider fromThracia. Along with her brotherDeen, she joined a band of mercenaries inTarrah.^[1] During the siege of Tarrah, she helped defend the city. After Thracia's forces took over the city, Eda joinedLeif's liberation army.

Eda is a playable character. She is available from the start ofChapter 14. In Chapter 14, Eda andDeen are part of their own faction, and as such do not gain any bonus fromAuthority.

Analysis

Eda is a level 5Dragon Rider who joins the army in Chapter 14, past the halfway point ofThracia 776. She shares availability and a mutual support with her brotherDeen, but her stats and combat are significantly worse than his. Eda cannot reliably one-round enemies without significant investment. Furthermore, her base speed is too low to double fast enemies, and her low constitution means she gets weighed down by most weapons, making it even more difficult for her to double. She does has a B rank in lances, which is allows her to useSilver Lances at base level, which helps make up for her low base strength.

Eda has flying utility outdoors; her movement is high and unimpeded by terrain. However, when deployed on indoor maps, she only has D rank swords and significantly worse stats, due to her class having the worst dismounting penalties, making it much harder for her to be of any use in there. A D rank in swords is too low to use the better swords, such as theSilver Sword orKilling Edge.

The best use of Eda is to use her for flying utility alone; there is plenty of use for flying utility in the chapters after she joins, including rescuing the civilians and the captured units by killing thePegasus Knights who captured them inChapter 14x and against the enemies that captured civilians inChapter 15.

Eda, Wyvern Rider of Thracia
After the founding of the New Kingdom of Thracia, Eda became a close friend and confidante to Altena. Eda tried her best to raise her spirits, as the war and its revelations had taken their toll on Altena. She took her duties so seriously that she never concerned herself with her own well-being. Ultimately, Eda sacrificed her own happiness to better devote herself to serving Altena and the restoration of Thracia.
