First game	Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light

TheDracoshield (Japanese:竜の盾Dragon Shield), known as theDragonshield in earlier English-language games, is a stat-boosting item which was introduced inFire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light. It permanently increases its user'sdefense stat when used. It is available in every game of the series other than theJugdral duology, where theShield Ring performs a similar function instead, andThree Houses, where theGiant Shell performs the same function.

InGaiden and its remake,Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, the Dracoshield is not a stat-booster but anequipment item in the shield category. It is the strongest shield in both games, giving high boosts to both the defense andresistance of units who equip it. It also restores small amounts of HP to its user every turn.

Trivia

Although it is not present as an item inGenealogy of the Holy War, the Dracoshield is referenced inChapter 9 whenJeanne orHermina meets theShannan imposter. The imposter attempts to pass off a shield with a dragon pattern asBalmung, and when Jeanne/Hermina keeps it at the end of the conversation, she receives a three-point defense increase, the same amount of defense given by the Dracoshield inShadow Dragon & the Blade of Light.
