| “ | Dolhr... Land of theManaketes. BeforeMedeus, the dragonkin had few dealings with the human realm, but when the Shadow Dragon came, everything changed. He sunk allArchanea into a cycle of war, in which heroes rose and heroes fell—always claiming his cause was just and the humans' deaths deserved. | ” | — Shadow Dragon narration, on Dolhr |

TheDolhr Empire (pronounced /ˈdoʊlɚ/[key][1]; Japanese:ドルーアDurhua; PAL:Doluna), dubbed the "kingdom of manaketes" (Japanese:マムクートの王国kingdom of mamkutes)[a] was a relatively short-lived nation ofArchanea which existed only for a total of fifteen years across a period of 115 years. The empire at times comprised a significant portion of Archanea, but the region generally considered to comprise Dolhr in and of itself was the northern half of the central island mass shared withMacedon, to the south of the smallerAltea andGra islands, and to the west of the peninsula of theHoly Kingdom of Archanea.
History
The Empire was founded in the year 490 Archanea calendar byMedeus, prince of theEarth Dragons and guardian of the seal upon his wild brethren. In the years since the formation of theHoly Kingdom of Archanea, mankind had become increasingly hostile to and derisive of theManaketes, enraging Medeus and prompting him to form the Dolhr Empire, a Manakete nation, and declare himself its emperor. From there, in the year 493 he engaged the world in a war against humanity, opening with the successful conquest of the Holy Kingdom of Archanea. Country after country fell with ease, and at its peak Dolhr encompassed the entirety of the continent. The tide was turned with the rise ofCaldas's resistance army, and with the death of Medeus himself at the hands ofAnri and theFalchion, Dolhr crumbled and fell by the year 498. After the empire's fall, Manaketes continued to live in the region in a state of poverty.
Dolhr was restored in the year 598, a year after the revival of Medeus himself byGharnef, and in the year 600 again assaulted the countries of mankind with the goal of domination of the world, in a conflict known as theWar of Shadows. Despite the empire and especially Medeus's hatred of mankind, the army of Dolhr extensively employed human warriors in its ranks and was allied with the human countriesGra,Grust andMacedon; much of the rest of the continent fell to their immense combined might, withAurelis andTalys the only ones to withstand. After five years of domination by Dolhr and its allies, the empire eventually fell at the hands of the united Altea/Aurelis/Archanea resistance army led by PrinceMarth of Altea, wielding the Falchion as his ancestor did and using it to again strike down Medeus.

- ↑The localizations ofShadow Dragon & the Blade of Light andShadow Dragon vary slightly in describing how the Resurrectory is situated. The former title claims it to be "atop" a single mountain,[7] while the latter explains it to be "nestled in" various mountains.[8]
