Crazed Beast/Script
Sonia meets with an imprisoned former member of theFour Fangs,Pascal. Sonia offers to release Pascal if he killsEliwood, which he agrees to.
Hector,Lyn, and Eliwood follow a lead on theFire Emblem that leads them to the southern marshes ofBern. As they begin to investigate the three fortresses where they were told they would find the thieves, Pascal's forces ambush the lords. Pascal prevents messages being sent to the Black Fang's headquarters to avoid interference from theFour Fangs. Now surrounded, Hector commands the group to seize the fortresses to force the enemy to retreat.
During the battle,Farina arrives on the battlefield seeking an opportunity to offer her services as a mercenary; she spots Hector and approaches him. Farina confidently sells herself as a capable warrior whose skills will cost Hector 20,000gold. Based on the player's actions, Hector may be unable to afford Farina's price, decline to pay it, or decide to hire her; in the last case, she joins Hector's army.
Once the three forts have been captured, the remaining soldiers flee. Lyn and Hector begin arguing about Hector's reckless trust in the lead; Eliwood breaks up the argument by reminding them that they need to leave before reinforcements arrive and that they have still weakened the enemy.

Strategy
This section has been marked as astub. Please help improve the page by adding information.
| This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
This chapter's reinforcements end when you defeatPascal, so you should focus on the top-middle castle. The Cavaliers are the biggest threat and should be kept from advancing too far south. Luring out the Cavaliers by planting a strong troop likeMarcus or making use of thehalberd andhorseslayer will be to your benefit. The Archers in the ballistae and the Pegasus Knights will be there to deal any finishing blows. However, the Pirates have limited movement in the water and can be mostly ignored. The boss is guarded quite well and his path requires a majority of your units. An Archer or Sniper should use the nearby ballista as soon as possible; you'll be able to bring down the other ballista users and the Pegasus Knights. Pascal himself is nothing to take lightly, but the above strategy with the Cavaliers also works well for him. Try to not rely on having just one or two units fight him.
Farina appears at the bottom-right on turn 5 and quickly starts moving toHector. Since none of the castles require him to seize the throne, he can be moved toward her too. She matches up with all fliers in your party and allows the Pegasus Knights toTriangle Attack. She will charge 20,000 gold just to recruit her, which requires some sacrifices, but you will at least be able to get awhite gem (which is worth half of her cost) next chapter to offset the loss. You get two chances to accept her fees, or she leaves the story entirely.
For the top-right point you're virtually forced to use only your fliers andDart. The village contains anelysian whip which can be used to promote Farina shortly after recruiting her. Make a beeline to the village before a Pirate destroys it.Florina and Farina are better matches against the Monks, whileHeath or Dart should fight the Pirates. Near the village, there's an armory and vendor that can be used as your last chance to get enough money to afford Farina. The Bishop withpurge should be no match for your Pegasus Knights and will be unable to fight back when using it. However, the large number of Monks makes up for each of them being individually weak. When the fliers are done with the area around the Monks, make sure to avoid the ballistae that will shift focus if you're not careful.
The point on the lower left is easier compared to the other two and can be saved for last. While the enemies have average stats, they sometimes have specialized weapons such ashammers orswordslayers that you should keep track of. Be sure to take advantage of all the forests before your enemies do.
Trivia
- There is an unused enemy layout for this chapter in the game's data that was possibly meant to be the chapter's layout in Hector Hard mode; in the finished game, both difficulties share the same data for enemy spawns.
