Biography

Birthright

Charlotte appears in Chapter 14, guarding the Nohrian border wall under the command ofDaniela. She is in a Guard Stance with Benny blocking the only entrance into the border wall.

Corrin and the Hoshidan army break through the Nohrian defenses, defeating Charlotte in the battle.

Conquest

Charlotte, alongside Benny, appear inChapter 13, during Corrin's efforts to quell aChevois rebellion led byScarlet. Initially perturbed by the battle, Charlotte very quickly changes her attitude upon hearing of Corrin's royal status. She and Benny aid in the battle and join Corrin's Nohrian army for the rest of the story.

Revelation

Charlotte and Benny appear inChapter 14, joining up with Nohrian troops led bySilas guarding the Port Town of Dia. KingGaron has directly ordered them to stop Corrin from sailing toNotre Sagesse.

In order to recruit Charlotte, the recently recruitedElise must talk to her. Initially annoyed by Elise's compliments, Charlotte very quickly changes her attitude when she figures out that Elise is one of the princesses of Nohr. She agrees to be friends, and joins Corrin's army for the rest of the story.

Analysis

Charlotte is a level 10Fighter starting inChapter 13 ofConquest, andChapter 14 inRevelation Her stat spread and growths point her towards a sort of glass cannon role. She has high strength and speed, middling skill and luck, and poor defense and resistance despite having pretty good HP. Her base C in axes is fine forSteel andKiller Axes, although they are less accurate thanIron andBronze Axes, which she may want to fix her accuracy issues. Due to this, until Charlotte's skill growth kicks in, it's recommended to trade her Steel Axe for a more accurate weapon.

Charlotte starts with her personal skillUnmask, and Fighter's skills ofHP +5 andGamble. Unmask is a pretty good personal skill, but it only procs if the enemy is female, which means it will not activate often since most generic enemies are male. Outside of female bosses the only generic enemy classes she can target with it are theSky Knight line, theTroubadour line,Shrine Maiden,Priestess and the DLC-exclusiveWitch. The four extra damage is somewhat appreciated for OHKO-ing Sky Knight-line enemies, who Charlotte already has an advantage over and wants to be fighting, as well as the Maids found late inConquest who can apply debuffs if they survive to counterattack. HP +5 gives her some extra bulk, and Gamble gives +10 crit, but -10 hit, which can make her accuracy issues worse. That's why, just like with giving her a more accurate weapon, the player should unequip Gamble after her join chapter.

On the choice of promotions, Charlotte can promote to eitherBerserker orHero. Berserker is generally her best promotion option, as it gives an innateCrit +20,Rally Strength for supporting other units,Axefaire for extra damage, and offers excellent pair up bonuses in Strength and Speed, which are further amplified by her own personal pair up bonuses which each support rank. However, with Charlotte's luck not being particularly high, she'll be more susceptible to critical hits with the stat reduction promoting, and Berserkers have an innate -5 crit avoid. It's also worth noting that Charlotte's pair up bonuses as a Berserker are highly desirable for many units, and not a role that is trivial to replace except if the player promotes and keepsArthur as a Berserker, and reclassing another unit into one is an unreasonable investment for pair-up utility alone. The other promotion ofHero makes Charlotte more balanced by giving extra skill, luck, defense, and resistance, and gives access to swords, which will help with Charlotte's accuracy issues. This class also grantsSol for a life steal effect, andAxebreaker for even more accuracy and avoid against axe users, and since axes are the strongest weapon type, it helps circumvent Charlotte's low defensive stats by avoiding damage.

Charlotte's reclass option ofTroubadour is sub-optimal, owning to her base 0% magic growth and 0 in her stat, and negligible increases to said stat and growth, making this a strict downgrade. Magic classes are terrible for her since to be a competent magic user, the player would have to invest a bunch ofSpirit Dusts andMagic Tonics that could be given to better units.Strategist may have a mount, but it does not do justice to Charlotte for being magical, and even reducing her skill stat by one, and reducing her skill growth by 10%, worsening her shaky accuracy.Maid does have some niche use cases with shurikens being able to apply debuffs on enemies, and she can deal some damage with them. However, the main use Maid should serve is to get Troubadour's skills ofResistance +2 andDemoiselle, and theTomebreaker skill, which gives an extra fifty hit and avoid against tomes and scrolls. Due to Charlotte's awful resistance, this skill can be quite worthwhile to get.

Charlotte'sFriendship Seal reclass options are notable though, mostly withBeruka, as her pair up bonuses in skill and defense as aWyvern Lord are much appreciated, although she can goMalig Knight to trade some defense for resistance.Wyvern Rider is a highly attractive class, allowing Charlotte to retain her great axe rank into a flying class with good bulk and speed, and excellent skills to gain from the line such asStrength +2 andTrample for extra power,Rally Defense for support,Savage Blow for chip, andSwordbreaker for an even better advantage against swords, making it incredibly worthwhile to get into if planning to train her as a combat unit.Peri also gives defense and resistance in pair up in her native class promotions, though instead of skill like Beruka, she gives a slight amount of speed. Peri is notable for giving other high-move classes:Cavalier,Paladin, andGreat Knight. These classes aside from Great Knight increase her luck growth, which can be helpful to help negate Berserker's innate -5 crit avoid and reduction to the luck stat.Elbow Room gives some additional damage when on basic terrain, andShelter can pull units into pair up with her. Paladin'sDefender is useful for extra pair up stats, making her utility as a unit who wants to pair up even better when she's in the lead.Aegis does give a chance at damage reduction, but Charlotte's lower base skill and potential to get unlucky levels makes this skill unnecessary. While Great Knight doesn't increase her luck, it does give her some extra bulk in defense and resistance than Berserker, but not HP. Charlotte's middling skill also makesLuna not very attractive.Armored Blow is a very solid skill for fixing her bulk problems even more with +10 defense on player phase.Nyx is not very good option, since the only stats she gives in pair up is +1 speed and +3 resistance as aSorcerer, which Peri can provide as a Paladin, and +3 defense as aDark Knight, which Beruka and Peri can provide more of in certain classes. Charlotte also can't make good use ofDark Mage except for the Dark Knight class since it can use swords. When it comes to the easy to obtain skills,Heartseeker gives extra accuracy against foes,Malefic Aura gives extra magical damage to nearby player units, andLifetaker can increase Charlotte's survivability considering her low bulk.Seal Magic is relatively useless on Charlotte since her high strength and crit chance will most often outright kill magical units that would need the debuff. InRevelation,Rinkah can be a great partner, since she gives high amounts of strength and defense as anOni Chieftain, or can give less bulk and strength, but more skill as aBlacksmith. Charlotte gets theOni Savage class tree to feel more at home by keeping her axe rank, though she'll lose quite a bit of skill, and gains access to great skills.Death Blow gives a +20 crit boost on player phase,Counter deals all damage received back to the foe at no reduction, andLancebreaker gives an accuracy boost when fighting lances, a common weapon type that she'll have an overkill advantage against with this skill.

Role

There are two different variations of Charlotte available toHeroes, both based on her storyline appearance inFates. The normal variation of Charlotte is one of the characters added to the game in theEchoes of Truth update, and became available for summoning by players on July 19, 2021. A bridal variation of Charlotte was first made available between the period of May 30, 2017 through June 14, 2017 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of theBridal Blessings update; this variation made her the first character to receive a special variation without their normal variation anywhere in the game files. Charlotte is one of a very few characters to date who had a special variation made available to players before their normal variation had actually been added to the game, another example beingPent.

Charlotte is a typical gold digger in her fake personality. She wants to marry rich men so she can have lots of money, but seemingly without the intent to steal their money and run off soon afterwards. Her other personality makes her more wild and ready to fight, but it also makes her more mean and prone to anger, where in many supports she switches and gets immensely angry with whoever she is talking to because of whatever thing the other person was saying that displeased her. She is also really strong, being able to pick upNiles in their A support, and pullArthur away with one arm from a magic attack in their B support.

Charlotte has her own ideas when it comes to attracting men, such as telling Beruka to wear clothes that have cleavage to supposedly "kill" them, and tells her to stop being so cold and mean, since men also don't like that kind of attitude. Charlotte herself cooks delicious meals for several men in their supports, saying in her B support withSaizo that "The quickest way to a man's heart is through the stomach".

Here she is in her white dress, set off with ribbons, a waist sash, and skirt in aqua-blue. It's a clean and delicate design that perfectly captures the look!	I see she's also carrying an axe...or rather, a spoon for cake. Although it can, in fact, be used as a weapon in battle if the situation demands!
