Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Castor is the sole playable member of theHunter class, making him a somewhat unique unit. His strongest attribute is his availability, as he joins inChapter 2 and comes early enough to contribute to most of the game, and his early recruitment means he has some chapters where you haven't recruited enough stronger units yet to justify dropping him. His base stats are decent for an early recruit, with a fairly decent 7strength, 7skill, 6weapon level, and 6speed, but with a somewhat disappointing 4defense. His strength and skill growths are decent enough to maintain a solid level in each, but his lackluster growths in areas such as defense and weapon level hurt him a lot—his weapon level will probably remain too low to use theParthia without theManual, his low defense growth only compounds his frailty and his average speed growth is unreliable in getting him to late-game doubling thresholds without a Speed Ring. Also, hismovement of 6 is mediocre, and due to only being able to counterattack at 2-range he will have a hard time contributing on enemy phase. Overall, Castor is a decent unit in the early-game, but he will quickly be surpassed by better units.

Book 2

Role

In the years since theWar of Shadows, the death of his sister Leen inPort Warren, who had sold herself into slavery in her own attempt to raise money for her mother, had driven Castor to increased desperation in his efforts to find money.[1] He became a swindler out of desperation to prevent this from happening to his family again, and eventually made his way toMacedon, where he encountered Marth. After giving him some of his own money, Castor rejoined Marth's army out of (possibly exaggerated) gratitude.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Castor is the second bow user recruited, and his stats are superior to Gordin's upon arrival. His greater Strength and movement helps him keep up and deal decent chip damage, and his Speed, while not high enough to double attack, is at least enough to avoid getting doubled by slower enemies. The early chapters are quite difficult, so Castor is useful for his ability to weaken enemies without being countered. His Strength and Speed growths are decent byShadow Dragon standards, but his inability to fight on enemy phase causes him to level up slowly. His promotion to Horseman greatly improves his movement, but he will likely outlive his usefulness by the time that becomes an option. Overall, Castor is a unit who is helpful early on but will be outdone in his niche by Jeorge, the ballisticians, and others in the long-term.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Castor is one of many early game Bow units given to the player.Gordin andRyan, the two early gameArchers, will likely outclass Castor, as they have much higher availability and can gain extra training in the Prologue.Warren, the other earlyHunter, joins two chapters earlier than Castor, but has lower bases across the board, a much lower level (Castor needs only 3 levels to promote), and a D rank in Bows compared to Castor’s C rank. With investment, Castor becomes a frail unit with decent offensive capabilities who can also make use ofParthia. Overall, though, Castor is unimpressive. The player will likely have far better options for Bow users. While using him long term may be more trouble than it’s worth, his respectable base stats and C rank mean that he can be decent filler for a few chapters if the player has an open deployment slot.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Role

One version of Castor is present inFire Emblem Heroes. The normal variation of Castor was added on March 15, 2024, and was available through aGrand Hero Battle that first ran from March 16–22, 2024.

Castor: Loving Son
Castor is an archer from Talys, an island kingdom to the east of the continent of Archanea. He's a timid and gentle Hero, but he makes his presence known when he takes aim with his bow!Originally, Castor made a living as a hunter in Talys—but he was forced to help the pirates who terrorized the area to have any hope of making up the money he needed for his sick mother's medicine.Fortunately, Princess Caeda of Talys made a difference when she gave Castor money for his mother's treatment, and he promptly cut ties with the pirates and swore loyalty to her instead.Years later, Castor crossed paths with Marth, the prince of Altea, who also gave him money for his mother's treatment. How lucky he was to run into not just one but TWO kind Heroes!
