Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

All things considered, Caesar is the weakest of the six Mercenary- andHero-class party members inShadow Dragon & the Blade of Light. His minor statistical advantages over Radd are offset by thoroughly-underwhelming growth rates across the board. While Radd, at least, is likely to catch up to his peers given the chance, Caesar's odds of doing the same are significantly dicier. Caesar will do in a pinch, and the nature of promotion bonuses inShadow Dragon & the Blade of Light allows him to quickly patch up any stats that may be lagging behind if he can make it to level 10, but any of the other five Mercenary-line characters will likely surpass him.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Caesar joins in Chapter 8 as a level 3 Mercenary. He is underleveled, far away from promotion, and his base stats are low. His base speed is high enough to not get doubled by most enemies, but on higher difficulties, some enemies will start doubling him soon. Most enemies on higher difficulties kill him in two hits. His damage output is also not very high. He uses swords, which are the weakest weapon type inShadow Dragon. Swords suffer weapon triangle disadvantage against lances, the most common enemy weapon type in the game. His base weapon rank is also low at D, which makes him unable to wield good swords that could circumvent his low Strength.

Because of how underleveled he is, getting Caesar to promotion and a higher sword rank will require time and effort. To put Caesar's weakness into perspective—his base stats are comparable toOgma's and worse in some aspects. Considering Ogma joins six chapters earlier, this makes Caesar feeble at base level. With enough time and effort, Caesar can be trained—but if you want to play fast, he is not worth using.

Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem

Caesar (along withRadd) appears as an enemy inChapter 6x, working with the assassins andLegion. If he survives, he joins Marth's army at the end of the chapter, as Marth hires them back into his service.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Caesar is the second Mercenary to join afterOgma. Compared to Ogma, Caesar joins much later and has worse bases and growths in almost all areas. Simply put, Ogma outclasses Caesar in every way. Despite this, if the player is intent on using Caesar, he does have a few positive traits that can work in his favor. C rank in swords is quite useful and grants him access to theWyrmslayer. He also starts at level 7, meaning he won’t be too far off from a promotion if he is invested in. If Caesar is trained, however, the player should expect the grind to be quite cumbersome. Investment in Caesar will yield nothing but a worse version of Ogma. Caesar is, at the very least, better than Radd—though this is not a particularly high bar to clear.

Personality

Caesar has very little character given to him in his first appearances, but his character is expounded upon inNew Mystery of the Emblem. He seems to be focused on tactics and strategy in battle, often studying tactics books in his free time.[1] He and Radd appear to be good friends.

English

Caesar

From a Roman cognomen which possibly meant "hairy", from Latincaesaries "hair".[2] There are many alternate explanations that have been given, however. The most famous bearer of the name Caesar was the Roman emperorGaius Julius Caesar of the familyJulii Caesares, and due to him and his adopted son Octavian (known asAugustus Caesar, or "the majestic Caesar") who succeeded him, Caesar came to bea title referring to the Roman emperor, and also spread into other languages to be a generic term for emperor (such as the German wordKaiser).
