Bridge of Betrayal/Script
Count Gloucester discusses the possibility of his gambit against the Empire with his sonLorenz and prepares for battle. Meanwhile, the Imperial army arrives at the Great Bridge of Myrddin, whereEdelgard explains her plans to install successors to Houses Gloucester and Ordelia who will cooperate with the Empire, dispose of the treacherous House Phlegethon outright, and defeatClaude in battle if necessary. Later,Hubert reports thatthose who slither in the dark had nothing to do with the scheme; Claude alone is responsible forCount Bergliez's peril.
The Imperial army storms the Great Bridge, kills House Phlegethon's leaderAcheron, and captures Count Gloucester. If Lorenz survived, Count Gloucester abdicates his title and lands to him, and Lorenz swears fealty to the Empire. Shez comments on how if a mercenary attempted to pull the stunt House Gloucester just did, they would be killed on the spot, and Edelgard admits that she has no suitable alternatives if she wants to maintain order in Gloucester territory.

Strategy
| This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
In the main battle, try to hurry to Ladislava's aid, she won't be able to hold the lines forever! After you aid her,Acheron will appear with reinforcements that will attempt to escape with treasure. Defeating Acheron before his troops will cause them to escape, so make sure to defeat them first. If you have completed all side missions, you should have enough Strategy Resources to use all available strategies. If you didn't, theBuild Bridge strategy will allow you to rush the bosses earlier than usual, but will also likely mean you will miss out on recruiting one of the three recruitable characters during this mission.
If you find yourself in a situation where you have to decide on which character to recruit, the characters' benefits are as follows:
- HavingIgnatz deployed is a requirement forRaphael's recruitment during the next chapter, so not recruiting Ignatz will also cause you to lose out on Raphael.
- If you recruitLorenz, you will also get access to theHeroes' RelicThyrsus at the end of the chapter (if you haven't already obtained it throughNew Game+). As it increases the range of magic attacks, Thyrsus can be quite useful.
- Keep in mind that in order to play their sharedparalogue,Unsettling Truths, all three of Ignatz, Raphael, and Lorenz must be kept alive.
- Balthus'sUnique Action Ability,Golden Fists, provides an easy way to farmgold in a game where gold can be rather limited. At the start of Part II, he will also come equipped with theVajra-Mushti, the only relicgauntlets in the game.
