Appearance(s)

Boah (Japanese:ボアBoha) was a bishop and royal advisor in the service of theHoly Kingdom of Archanea. He was tasked by the king with escorting PrincessNyna out ofPalace as the forces ofDolhr moved in at the onset of theWar of Shadows, and was captured and imprisoned for the rest of the war, until Nyna returned withMarth's forces to reclaim Palace. After the war, he persuaded Nyna to marryHardin of Aurelis, and the latter's discovery of this fact played a role in his eventual descent into grief and madness, and the cause of theWar of Heroes.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Boah joins inChapter 12 as a pre-promotedBishop, the second in the game afterWendell. Of the two, Boah has higher base stats inskill, strength, andspeed, equal base stats inweapon level,HP, andresistance, and inferior bases indefense; however, his growths are significantly worse in every stat except speed and defense. Also, since Wendell has much better availability and good growths, it is likely he has already surpassed Boah by the time he is recruited. Still, Boah has a high enough weapon level to use everytome andstaff in the game, and being able to use these items gives him tremendous utility, even though he is overall a bit weaker than Wendell. Ultimately, Boah is a very useful unit, either as a replacement for Wendell or for additional utility, and is well worth a deployment slot.

Book 2

Role

After the War of Shadows, Boah and several other Archanean nobles had decided to, for the purpose of the restoration of Archanea, strongly encourage Nyna to marry PrinceHardin ofAurelis; though initially reluctant, out of continued feelings for the lostCamus and of a lack thereof for Hardin, but eventually gave in to the pressure. Some time into the marriage, Hardin learned of this and of Nyna's lack of reciprocation of his love for her, and this is what caused him to enter a deep depression, paving the way forGharnef to enter the palace disguised as a merchant, offer him theDarksphere and twist him into a vicious despot. As such, Boah's actions were the catalyst for the chain of events which eventually became theWar of Heroes.

At some point afterward, Hardin attacked and gravely wounded Boah for his role in the marriage to Nyna. Boah survived long enough to encounter Marth as he prepared to storm Palace itself and end Hardin's tyranny, and explained to Marth andJagen his role in Hardin's rise, expressing great regret for it. Boah then dies and, as such, is not playable.

Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga

In the end, they were defeated and captured upon the arrival ofCamus, and were imprisoned in the palace, where they remained for three years until Marth arrived with Nyna.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Boah joins in Chapter 12 as a level 1 pre-promotedBishop. His base stats are poor overall, and his growths are also low. Boah can survive one hit with less than 27attack; he can usually survive in lower difficulties if he is not doubled, but in higher difficulties, he will get one-rounded by most enemies. Notably, this allows him to take one hit from a flier through Chapter 15 on H5, and his base Magic allows him to one-shot in retaliation withExcalibur. Boah's base Magic allows him to reclass to Sage and continue to one-shot fliers in Chapter 16 if he grows Magic once or reaches A-rank in tomes. Unlike his main competitionWendell, his Speed is sadly insufficient to protect him from being doubled by enemy fliers.

Boah joins with no items, but high enough weapon ranks to use most tomes and staves with no investment. His C rank in staves allows him to useWarp andPhysic, making him a useful support unit, while his B rank in tomes allows him to use most available tomes, including Excalibur. Other units likeLena and Wendell excel as support units and are available earlier, but Boah can still contribute with no investment. Additionally, as he is already promoted, Boah does not need to compete for aMaster Seal to gain higher stats from promoted classes.

Boah feels his country fell from grace after Dolhr's attack during the War of Shadows. He wants to aid Princess Nyna in political affairs, even going as far as to suggest she marries someone of foreign blood with haste against her wishes. His concerns for Archanea's future outweigh what concerns he has for Nyna's personal feelings.
