Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
As a unit
Beowolf joins around halfway through the first generation, in the later part of Chapter 2. His wealth at base, high strength, and good base stats aside from resistance and luck make him somewhat easy to train, and he has very good promotion bonuses, with a +6 in speed, a massive +9 in skill, and the skillAdept on promotion. He also has a mount, and both Follow-Up and Accost, which gives him good offense. However,Genealogy's latter half gives him some trouble due to the presence of mages and horse-penalizing terrain:Chapter 4 in particular is difficult for him because of the large number ofPegasus Knights withweapon triangle advantage over him, forests and mountains that are difficult to get past, and severalWind Mages that may easily kill him. Additionally, he cannot reliably one-round bulkier enemies without thePower Ring or aBrave Sword, and as his magic stat will always be 0 he is a poor user of themagic sword.
As a father
Beowolf is one ofLachesis's best potential husbands; they have an event in Chapter 2 that grants the twolove points and makes Lachesis stronger, and Lachesis's son,Diarmuid, can inherit Beowolf's swords and Follow-Up. Beowolf can provide Follow-Up to any children he sires, such asEdain's sonLester orTailtiu's childrenArthur andTine; however, most children have better fathers from whom they can inherit weapons,Holy Blood, or other useful skills.
Personality
Though dedicated to his mercenary work, Beowolf nonetheless was judgemental of his employers and was prepared to abandon their service should he disagree with their cause or motivations.[3] He had a history of working withEldigan ofNordion and held a high respect for him, and by Eldigan's request took to looking out for and tutoring his younger sisterLachesis during the Agustrian war.[1] Even though he and Waltz were close friends and partners, both accepted that one day the two may be enemies to each other in the employ of conflicting parties, which ultimately happened in Agustria.[3]
