Biography

Baron Mateus is the nephew ofViscount Mateus and was appointed the head of the house after his uncle was involved in theTragedy of Duscur and his territory was downgraded from a viscounty to a barony.

Scarlet Blaze

On the Scarlet Blaze route, he appears as part of an army led byRodrigue that attempts to stopEdelgard's advance into westernFaerghus. During the battle, he can be slain or be forced to surrender. If he is forced to surrender, he decides to aid the Imperial army by interceptingByleth.

Baron Mateus appears as a minor boss duringScarlet Blaze Chapter 10. He can be killed or spared during the battle, and his survival is a requirement for recruitingByleth andJeralt during the mission.
