Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light

Aum works but once, but I will use it to revive a lost comrade.
— Elice

Aum (Japanese:オムOm) is a powerful staff ofArchanea, capable of restoring life to deceased warriors. It is usable only by women of royal lineage. Rumored by the world at large to have been lost as of the era of theWar of Shadows, it had in fact located byGharnef in the Resurrectory, a temple inDolhr, and it was to the end of using it that Gharnef held hostage PrincessElice ofAltea; she revealed this information to her brotherMarth when he came toThabes to free her. In the intervening years following the War, the staff ended up in theDragon's Altar.

Elice is the sole wielder of Aum inShadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, and Elice andYuliya are the sole wielders inMystery of the Emblem. Afterward, this was expanded to include all women of royal blood;[1] InShadow Dragon andNew Mystery of the Emblem, Elice,Maria,Nyna, and Yuliya are capable of using Aum, andCaeda,Minerva, andSheena can use it afterreclassing to a staff-wielding class.

Trivia

  • InShadow Dragon, Aum cannot resurrect the character selected as adecoy in the Prologue; this may have been foreshadowing to how, inNew Mystery of the Emblem,Frey survived acting as the decoy and returned to serving Altea.
    • Conversely, Aum can be used to reviveTiki inShadow Dragon despiteGotoh stating that she is not dead when she falls in battle.[2]
  • InShadow Dragon andNew Mystery of the Emblem, units revived by the Aum staff will be revived "untapped"—meaning they can perform an action the turn they are revived—even if they were killed that turn, making it possible for that unit to take two actions in one turn.

Notes

  1. 1.01.1As the chest is isolated from the rest of the map and there is an enemy on the chest (aDark Mage inMystery of the Emblem, aSorcerer inNew Mystery of the Emblem),Warp is required to obtain Aum. Because Warp is not obtainable in the Lunatic difficulty ofNew Mystery of the Emblem, Aum can not be obtained.
