Strategy
| This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
You are joined by Marth, the hero of this tale. His combat stats have improved sinceShadow Dragon and the much less lance-dominated enemy lineup means he will have less trouble contributing than he did in the War of Shadows. His bases are sufficient to let him survive combat with both Thieves near the starting point, which is really helpful if you're lacking in bulk. Also bear in mind that anyone who wants to survive combat next chapter needs to have 7 Speed and 28 physical bulk by the end of this one.
Immediately use three melee tanks to create a six-space safe zone in the corner of the map. The Thieves are easy pickings on turn 2. Reinforcements will spawn on turns 2, 3, and 4 on the south end of the map; keep up the safe zone and swap in your tanks as necessary to get through it. Once you're through, use the throne to heal up.
The next two Hunters aggro in pairs with nearby Barbarians. To minimize risk, start with the right pair since they are a bit further up and will overextend themselves away from the Silver Axe Barbarian in the center. Then pull the left pair. You will likely have to enter the Silver Axe Barbarian's attack range in order to kill the west Hunter, so keep that in mind. Pulling the Silver Axe Barbarian also aggros both Mages and the Barbarian with the Silver and Hand Axes. Don't be afraid to pull back to defeat them if you need to. Once they're dead, the save point is yours.
If you have two units who can survive combat with both a Silver Sword Thief and a Levin Sword Thief, you're in really good shape. Send your tanks into both Silver Sword Thieves' attack range at the same time and aggro the entire enemy force. You can either overrun them with numbers or pull back to the throne for healing. Be especially wary of Katarina herself, as her high Magic allows her to deal extreme damage to or outright one-shot most of your party; even Kris has to think twice about carelessly engaging her. Once you beat Katarina and her flunkies, the prologue is won.
Incidentally, if you chose to put on a headband last chapter, you will be given a chance to change it back. Answering "yes" ditches the headband and reverts Kris' appearance to what it was previously, while answering "no" locks in the headband.
