There was a princess named Artemis who loved your ancestor, Anri, with all her heart. He loved her as well—but when Medeus appeared, the two were parted forever. She cursed the Fire Emblem—called it the end of war, but also the end of love.
— Nyna

Artemis (Japanese:アルテミスArtemis) was the princess and later queen ofArchanea during theWar of Liberation and the wife ofCaldas.

Biography

Five hundred years after the foundation ofArchanea,Medeus and his Dolhr Empire engaged in a war of vengeance againsthumans which would later be known as theWar of Liberation, resulting in the extermination of the Archanea royal family save for Princess Artemis and the fall of the kingdom.

After giving theFire Emblem to Caldas she hid inAltea, eventually meeting the peasantAnri. Anri, determined to save her, obtainedFalchion and slewMedeus. Despite his feats and their shared love, Artemis was unable to marry Anri and instead married DukeCaldas to follow the request of the Archanean people.

This succession of events caused Artemis to curse the Fire Emblem, condemning her descendants to repeat the same tragedy if the Emblem is ever used again.[1] She later died in childbirth when having her first son.

Ninety-nine years after the end of theWar of Liberation, during theWar of Shadows, Artemis' descendantNyna would come to repeat the tragic life of Artemis due to the curse of the Emblem.
