TheArch Sage orArchsage (Japanese:大賢者Arch Sage) is anadvanced magicalclass which debuted inFire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. Acting as an even more advanced form of theSage and related classes, Archsages are masters of multiple magical disciplines with high stats. In its original appearance inFire Emblem, the Archsage is the exclusive class ofAthos of theEight Legends, in his brief playable role in theFinalChapter. InRadiant Dawn, the Arch Sage is thethird-tierpromoted form of the game's four element-specific Sage variants: theFire Sage,Thunder Sage,Wind Sage andDark Sage.

Arch Sages have access to a broad spectrum of magic, typically featuring multiple types of offensive magic with an emphasis onanima magic alongside healingstaves.Fire Emblem Archsages wield all four magic categories - anima, light, dark and staves, while the Arch Sages ofRadiant Dawn primarily wield all three anima magic types. TheRadiant Dawn Arch Sage is technically four separate classes which have minor variations in stat builds and usable weapons; in addition to the three anima-specialist versions, the dark variant exclusive toPelleas wields only thunder magic, dark magic and staves, and also has higherproficiency in staves than the anima variants.

In all cases, Arch Sages specialize in pure magical offense, as the various Sage classes do. Theirmagical power,skill andspeed all remain high, giving them potent,accurate andquick offensive abilities. However, they share the traditional weakHP anddefense of most magical classes, although theirresistance is respectable.

• InThe Blazing Blade, the Archsage is the only playable class which is capable of having more than one Sweapon level.
• Radiant Dawn's North American help description erroneously states that Pelleas's version of Arch Sage class encompasses all types of magic. This was corrected in the PAL release.
