TheArcanist (Japanese:妖術師Magician) is a magical enemy-onlyclass which debuted inFire Emblem Gaiden.
As an enemy-exclusive class inGaiden and its remake,Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, the Arcanist is not connected to any other class in aclass change tree, although theCantor class can be considered a stronger version of it.
Arcanists are servants of the fell godDuma, and use magic not available to the player, such asMire andMiasma.

- InGaiden, Arcanists are internally the same class as maleMages; whether a unit is a Mage or an Arcanist is determined by its affiliation.
- The sprite for Arcanist in the original is directly re-used from theBishop inFire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light.
