Almyra

Almyra (pronounced /ɑlˈmaɪɹə/[key]; Japanese:パルミラPalmyra) is a kingdom located at the far east ofFódlan, bordering with theLeicester Alliance. The kingdom's lands contain mountains, deserts and fertile prairies. It boasts a culture that promotes warfare and conserves a strong tradition towards horsemanship.[1]
History
While not much is known about Almyra's past, it has long since held a contested relationship withFódlan due to their people's love for battle. In Imperial Year 961, the Almyran army crossed Fódlan's Throat and invaded Alliance territory, which was barely driven off with help from theAdrestian Empire. Somewhere around 980, the Officers Academy was founded atGarreg Mach Monastery with the intention of preparing the people of Fódlan against future Almyran invasions. In 1101, Fódlan's Locket was constructed in Fódlan's Throat as a joint effort between the Adrestian Empire,Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and Leicester Alliance to defend against future Almyran invasions, with House Goneril of Leicester being given the responsibility of guarding it.
In 1160,Tiana, daughter of Duke Riegan, fell in love with the king of Almyra and eventually abandoned Leicester in pursue of her beloved, eventually bearingKhalid. In 1177, House Goneril captured an orphan,Cyril, during one of the Alliance's skirmishes against Almyra and made him a servant; in 1178, during one of ArchbishopRhea's visits to House Goneril, she noticed Cyril and offered him work at Garreg Mach Monastery, a chance Cyril took. In 1179, Khalid traveled from Almyra into the Leicester Alliance, adopted the name of "Claude von Riegan" and proclaimed himself as the legitimate heir to House Riegan. Afterwards, he enrolled into Garreg Mach Monastery in theGolden Deer house, studying and fighting alongside his peers.
Three Houses
Late in 1180, newly-crowned Adrestian emperorEdelgard von Hresvelg declared war on theChurch of Seiros, triggering a five-year-long conflict within Fódlan. In this time, Claude secretly negotiated an alliance between Almyra and the Alliance
On the Verdant Wind route, when the Alliance forces besiegedFort Merceus, Almyran troops led by GeneralNader helped seize the fort; Almyran forces were unharmed whenthose who slither in the dark subsequently annihilated Fort Merceus with ajavelin of light. The Alliance eventually won the war and united Fódlan, and Claude returned to Almyra to take the throne.
On the Crimson Flower route, Nader leads reinforcements to aid the Alliance when Adrestia besieges Derdriu; however, Nader was driven off and the Alliance was defeated. Nader later leads another skirmish atFódlan's Locket, but was defeated by Edelgard.
Warriors: Three Hopes
Shortly afterShez arrives at the monastery, an Almyran force lead by princeShahid attacksFódlan's Throat. The Golden Deer are dispatched to assistHolst in defending against the invading army alongsideShamir, and manage to drive the invasion off. Two years later, on the Golden Wildfire route, the Almyran army again attempts to invade Fódlan under Shahid's command. During the battle,Nader defects to the Alliance army alongside a large number of Almyran soldiers, and Shahid is ultimately killed in battle. Following Shahid's death, Almyran forces assist the newly formed Leicester Federation in battle. Both battles are shown in the Golden Wildfire route; while the first battle is implied to have occurred on the Scarlet Blaze and Azure Gleam routes, it is unclear whether the second does.
