Alfonse: Prince of Askr, the main version of Alfonse from the Prologue to Book IX, was one of the first characters available to players from the game's initial launch. A4★ version is automatically obtained at the start ofBook I, Prologue: Part 1. His personal weapon isFólkvangr, which was able to berefined after the 2.8.0 Update on August 9, 2018. Unlike other Heroes, he is unable to be summoned, sent home, used as source for skill inheritance, turned into aCombat Manual, or moved to reserves.

Alfonse has a serious and somewhat friendly personality. He is scared of getting too close to Heroes, as he was close friends with Bruno (under his Zacharias persona) before Bruno left abruptly; he often told his sister not to become too friendly with Kiran, but despite this has grown a deep fondness for Kiran himself. He does not seem to care too much about being "Princely", fighting in the Order of Heroes despite his father's protests.

He cares deeply for the people of Askr and is always willing to do what he can to help them. This can manifest as Alfonse stealthily giving them an order to evacuate^[2] while acting as a distraction.

Here's everyone's friend, Alfonse! He's a prince of Askr, but he's also more than that—he's my big brother!	He's kind and has a smile for everyone, and he's brave, too. Whenever there's trouble in Askr, he'll come running to the battlefield!	He's also super-smart and knows a lot about ancient Askran writing! I don't know how he even manages to interpret those weird old glyphs, but he breezes through reading them!	He's irreplaceable to both the kingdom and the Order of Heroes, and to me most of all. Together, we'll open the way to a bright future for Askr!

Aside from the sturdier protection, this armor also features some classic Askran designs. Alfonse looks more valiant than ever taking to the battlefield with his new look!	Alfonse has been at the vanguard of the efforts to stop Ragnarök. I hope that I get the chance to lead the Order of Heroes to a bright future too!
