Abyss

|
Abyss (pronounced /əbɪs/[key]; Japanese:アビスAbyss) was introduced as a part of the downloadable content of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It's located beneathGarreg Mach Monastery at the center ofFódlan, and it's a safe haven for those who have been shunned by the people on the surface of Fódlan.
History
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Abyss was created in agreement with theChurch of Seiros to be a place where people can take refuge if they so need it. Some time before the events of the game,Aelfric created theAshen Wolves house, the unofficial fourth house that is not recognized by theOfficers Academy. In the Cindered Shadows side story, it is explained that Aelfric created the Ashen Wolves to gather those who bear the Crests of theFour Apostles, in order to resurrect Byleth's mother,Sitri, by performing a ritual known as the Rite of Rising. The ritual goes wrong, and Aelfric fuses with Sitri's corpse to form anUmbral Beast, and once the beast is slain, ArchbishopRhea disbands the Ashen Wolf house, and its members are freed from the confines of Abyss.
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
After theAdrestian Empire seized Garreg Mach Monastery, the inhabitants of Abyss were forced to leave. The Ashen Wolves are found working in service of the nations of Fódlan, and during theirparalogue, they save more former inhabitants of Abyss.
