Plot

Main articles:A Distant Voice/Script andA Distant Voice/Conversations

TheDawn Brigade find some ruins in the desert.Micaiah andSothe set out to explore them. Inside, Sothe's words show how he has overcome his prejudice against the Laguz, impressing Micaiah. However, when he attributes his growth to his time inIke's company, Micaiah expresses anger at Ike for accidentally causing the situation with Begnion in the first place. The two arrive in a treasure vault belonging to a pack of Laguz bandits, who promptly attack; Micaiah calls in the other members of the Dawn Brigade and battle ensues.

Afterwards, Micaiah progresses into the heart of the ruins and meets the heron princeRafiel, the wolf queenNailah, and Nailah's vassalVolug. Rafiel is overjoyed to learn his siblings,Reyson andLeanne, and fatherLorazieh are all alive. Wanting to meet them again, Rafiel learns he has to go toGallia. Sothe recommends he hire Ike to escort him in after reaching Crimea, much to Micaiah's irritation.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

You get a new character from a base conversation, an Armored Sword named Meg. Meg is rather odd; she is in a tank class, but her growths lean towards a speedster. Unfortunately for her, she is only level 3 with subpar bases and questionable potential. Due to this, she is a redundant unit that is rarely used by most players.

You will unlock the home base and battle preparations starting with this chapter. The Discipline skill you obtained in the previous chapter is best given to either Micaiah or Aran to help their poor weapon level; both get A rank weapons late in Part 1 that they really want. As for supports, you can leave Micaiah and Sothe together since they get an instant A support and they will never separate. The other important note is that Leonardo only cares about offense. The partners that can give him accuracy, appreciate the Attack and Defense he gives, and don't leave the Dawn Brigade at the end of Part 1 are Edward and Meg. As for purchases, your total budget for Part 1 is roughly 36,500G plus whatever junk you decide to sell. It is highly, highly suggested that you get theBeast Killer for 1,200G, as it is one of the few you can get in the game and one of the most helpful by far. Both the Beast Killer and the equally importantBeastfoe hidden to the left of the healing jar at the northwest will be extremely helpful during Part III Chapter 6, as well as when you faceIzuka and his corrupted laguz near the endgame. Reserving 20,000G for two Master Seals leaves you with 15,300G to spend on discretionary purchases; ranged options for those who lack them are wise investments.

On turn 1, move Sothe two spaces right and one down to collect the hidden Coin, and then shove him down so he can reach the Master Seal one space south and one west of the bottom right healing jar on turn 2. The rest of your units should proceed south and then clockwise around the map, clearing out the laguz bandits so that Sothe can loot everything. Note that the laguz are basically free kills when untransformed, and that your ranged units can take free shots at the enemy through the walls. The final treasure in the northeast corner is a Seraph Robe, which is best given to either Aran to fix his poor base HP and help him tank or the soon to join Jill to make her a goddess of destruction.
