U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the Racine County Agricultural School in 1936 and was employed as an administrative officer with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Racine County, Wisconsin (1937 to 1944). During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy (1944 to 1946). Returning to Racine, Wisconsin, after the war, he was a feed salesman (1946 to 1951), secretary-treasurer of the Racine Milk Producers Cooperative Association, and manager of the Harmony Dairy Company. Entering politics, he was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate (1954 to 1962). In 1965, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-ninth Congress, serving until 1967. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he moved to Bethesda, Maryland, and worked as a legislative consultant to rural electric and dairy cooperatives (1968 to 1985) and then lived in retirement until his death.
