April 19,1882-July 5,1965
William E.Shuman,83,long time resident of North Platte, died Monday afternoon at his home at 4 South Sycamore. A retired attorney at law, he was born April 19, 1882 in Cedar Rapids, Nebr., graduating from the Waco High School in 1897 and from Peru State Normal School in 1900. He graduated from the College of Law in Lincoln in 1904, establishing his practice in North Platte the same year, practicing here for 50 years. He had served as Brady school principal and had taught for a year in the North Platte Schools. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1902. He was a member of Walla Walla Lodge No.10, Nebraska State Bar Association and the Lincoln County Bar Association. Survivors include his wife, Exie; three daughters, Mrs Allen (Dorothy) Hacket, Boston, Mass., Mrs Elmer(Mariel)Meyer, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs Thomas(Carole)Shipley, San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Harry of Hastings and Leo of Spokane, Wash., six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.
