I consent to the arrangement because I believe the transfer of Surgeon Yandell to an enlarged sphere of duty will be to the interest of the service. I have appointed Surgn. Jno M Johnson, Chief Surgn. of Cleburne's Division of my corps who is an energetic and capable officer and as Acting Medical Director thoroughly versed in the duties of the position, Medical Director of this Army Corps and respectfully ask that the appointment be confirmed by the proper authority. I am General Very Respectfully Yr Obt Svt, W. J. Hardee, Lieut General"
