Obituary - Mrs. Kathan

Mary Louisa Renshaw was born in McClellandtown, Fayette county, Pennsylvania, on December 24, 1840. She came to Iowa on March 15, 1862, with her father, Thomas F. Renshaw, who located near Loana, Clayton county, Iowa. With her were three brothers and one sister,who are left to mourn the loss of a dear and much loved one.

She was married to J. C. Kathan October 30, 1866. To this union were born seven children, four of which preceeded the mother in death.

Three with the husband are left to cherish the memory of a loving wife, mother and sister. Those of the brothers and sisters are Albert W. Renshaw, of Afton, Iowa; Marshall D. L. Renshaw of Storm Lake, Iowa; William C. Renshaw Rushmore of Minnesota, and Mrs. Carrie M. Pierce, of Osage.


note* her obit says 1840 for her birth year but the tombstone and cemetery record have 1841
