Horatio H. Larned, when 18 years old, enlisted on 9/23/1862 ad a
private and mustered into "C" Co. Minnesota 1st Cavalry. He was mustered out on 10/31/1863.
Son of William L. Larned of same unit.

Horatio H. Larned was born 2/15/1845 in Hudson, Michigan to William L. Larned and his wife, Elizabeth J. In 1850 the family moved to Minnesota. When the Civil War broke out Horatio enlisted at age 17. Per his obituary he was participated in more than 50 Indian engagements in the Minnesota area. He was later a scout and trade for the Northwestern Fur Company near old Fort Rice, Minnesota.
He returned to Lansing, Michigan where his parents had relocated to in 1869 and joined his father, William L. Larned (1st Minnesota Cavalry) in the crockery business.
He married Mary Jenison in 1871.
He retired in 1919 and died to an accidental fire in his bedroom. On 6/9/1936 he is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Section G, Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.
