State Senator William S. Allee died last night in Wesley hospital at Kansas City, where he underwent an operation last week. The senator's condition was described as very serious after the operation but later he gained strength and it was thought that he had passed the crisis. He suffered a relapse yesterday and death resulted last night. He was 64 years old.
Senator Allee was one of Jefferson City's best and most resourceful fighters during the capitol fight.
William S. Allee was born in Moniteau County, January 20, 1852. He received his early education in the common schools of that county and later attended Missouri University. After completing his studies there he took a medical course in Rush Medical College of Chicago and the Missouri Medical College of St. Louis. He then went to Miller County where he practiced his profession.
He was president of the Miller County Exchange Bank for twenty-four years. He is an ex-president of the Missouri State Medical Association. He was married in 1875 to Miss Laura Hutson of St. Louis who, with four children, lives to mourn him.
He was a member from the 27th Senatorial district of the forty-fifth, forty-sixth, forty-seventh and forty-eighth general assemblies. In the forty-eighth general assembly he served as chairman of the committee on railroads and internal improvements and as a member of the committee on penitentiary and reform schools, ways and means, new capitol, constitutional amendments and permanent seat of government, eleemosynary institutions and public health privileges, elections and redistricting, banks and banking and clerical force.
His sons are Dr. Gale Allee of Kansas City, Ray Allee of Kansas City, Dr. Logan Allee of Eldon and Priest Allee of Olean.
The funeral will take place Thursday at Olean. Many of his friends of this city will attend the funeral.
