Son of Warren and Olivia Amidon. Husband of Adelaide
Fay Amidon, who was postmaster of Hilton for nine years, died yesterday (July 27, 1952) after a short illness.
He was born in Hilton and later taught school for a year in a district school in Parma after he graduated from State Teachers College at Brockport. He then attended the Rochester Business Institute for a year and returned to Hilton to work with his father on their 80-acre farm.
During Woodrow Wilson's administration, Mr. Amidon was appointed postmaster at Hilton. His wife served as his assistant for the nine years he held the post. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last April. After he left the post office position, he returned to the farm, often expressing his liking for working the soil. He retired seven years ago and sold the farm just outside the village. He continued to live on a section, which he retained at 907 Hilton-Parma Corners Rd.
He was a past master of Clio Lodge, F&AM, and a past patron of Leah Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Adelaide Amidon. Services were held at the Adams Funeral Home in Hilton at 2 p.m. Burial was in Parma Union Cemetery.
