Jane Gray Hudson, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 30, 2016 at her home in Brentwood, TN.

Jane was born August 21, 1929 in Old Hickory, TN, a daughter of the late Dan and Bertie Gray. Jane graduated from DuPont High School in Old Hickory, TN and David Lipscomb College in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Hudson retired from Laurel Senior High School in the mid-1980s after a 30-year teaching career. She was a member of the Laurel Church of Christ the entire time she resided in Laurel, DE. Mrs. Hudson moved to Brentwood, TN in 2013 to spend her final years with her daughter, Rachel, and Rachel’s family.

Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Manford Hudson, her parents Dan and Bertie Gray of Old Hickory, TN, brothers Frank and Joe Gray. She is survived by a daughter, Rachel Hudson Vaughn and husband Carl of Brentwood, TN; her sister Lorraine Yearwood of Athens, GA; two grandchildren, Addison and Clark Vaughn of Brentwood, TN, French AFS daughter Charline (Vergote) Abell of Hodgenville, KY and Charline’s son, Matthew, numerous nieces and nephews including Dawn (Joseph) Gray of Brentwood, TN and Wayne (Millie) Hudson of Laurel.
The family would like to thank the staff of Caris Hospice, especially hospice aid Tori, for the loving care they provided.

A Funeral Service will be held at Laurel Church of Christ at 1010 South Central Ave, Laurel, DE 19956 on Sunday June 12, 2016 at 3:00 pm, where visitation and viewing will also be held from 2-3:00 pm. Funeral services will be officiated by Dave Hudson, great-nephew of Jane, and Wayne Mathis, former pastor at Laurel Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel. Active Pallbearers are Joseph Gray, Wayne, Zachary, Tyler, Charles (Pete), Ashley, Ty, and Mark Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Laurel Church of Christ, 1010 S. Central Ave. Laurel, DE 19956, care of the mission fund.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home Laurel, DE.
