Beulah Beacon, Beulah, ND, Aug. 2, 1984 —
Services were held July 24 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck for Reinhold J. Sailer, 82, Bismarck, who died July 19, 1984 at a Bismarck hospital.
He was born April 26, 1902 in Mannhaven to Adam and Jacobina (Benz) Sailer. He grew up in Stanton, where he graduated from high school and later attended the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis.
He worked in the Sub-marginal Land Department in western North Dakota and had banking and farm interests for 20 years in Mercer and Dunn Counties.
He married Alma Rockne in October 1941 and she died in March 1955.
Sailer was a commissioner of the Workmen's Compensation Bureau from 1951-55. He moved to Bismarck in 1951, where he had lived since. In January 1969 he married Elsie Haney at Sacramento, Calif.
He was a member of the Eastern Star for 57 years, past worshipful master of the Hazen Masonic Lodge, a member of the Bismarck & Mandan Chamber of Commerce, Germans from Russia Society, past president of the American Association of Retired People, North Dakota Water Users Association, and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He received recognition for valuable service and research to the state's Constitutional Convention and was active in the Bureau of Reclamation.
Sailer was also instrumental in organizing the Oliver-Mercer Electric Cooperative and was honored at the co-op's annual meeting in 1981 and in the organization of the Credit Production Association.
He is survived by his wife; two stepdaughters, Muriel Hyden, Jamestown, and Mrs. Nickolas (Pat) Moncarick, Dublin, Calif.; three stepsons, Lloyd Rockne, Sacramento, Michael Haney, Cupertino, Calif., and Thomas Haney, Salinas, Calif.; 11 step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dale (Ella) Albers, and Mrs. Harold (Ida) Mueller, both of Hazen; and one brother, Theophil, Seal Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers were Benjamin Sailer, Gerald Sailer, James Donovan, Michael Haney, Thomas Hyden, and Michael Rockne. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Bismarck.
