Son of George Autenrieth and his first wife. His father's obit list first wife as Barbara, but believer her name was Catherine Barbara Hoffmann. She passed away about 1874-1875. He was raised by his step-mother, Marie SCHMID Autenrieth.
Married Clara M Hezel on 02 Jan 1924 in St. Louis City, Missouri. Charles was a resident of Clayton, St. Louis County, MO. and Clara a resident of St. Louis City.

C.A. AUTENRIETH DIES IN CLAYTON
Part Owner of Hotel Was Prominent in County Politics.
Charles A. Autenrieth, brother of the late Albert Autenrieth, a political leader of St. Louis County and with Albert Autenrieth part owner of the former Autenrieth Hotel in Clayton, died at his home at 166 North Bemiston avenue, Clayton, following a brief illness. He was 66 years old.
Mr. Autenrieth, although he did not hold any public office in the county, was, however, active in political circles. The Autenrieth Hotel was for a number of years a meeting place for all political circles in the county. His brother, Albert Autenrieth died on December 17, 1926.
Mr. Autenrieth is survived by his widow, Mrs. Marie [sic-wife was Clara] Autenrieth; his mother, Mrs. Marie Autenrieth [she was step-mother]; four sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the residence of his sister, Mrs. John E. Eggers, at 114 North Central avenue, Clayton. The body will be in state at Bopp's undertaking establishment until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning.
Burial will be made at Lake Charles Cemetery.
