Wilford was a member of Hermann United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir since 1943. He was a member of the Hermann Bridle and Saddle Club, the Missouri River Bridge Corp from 1997 to 2005, a member of the Gasconade County Health Department Board from 1996 to 2002, the Gasconade County Bible Society, was on the Gasconade County 911 Board from 2006 to 2012, a Hermann Jaycee member and a member of the Hermann Fire Department. He was the mayor of Hermann from 1964 to 1972. He served as alderman from 1960 to 1964 and was a Gasconade County Presiding Commissioner from 1983 to 1995.
In 1947 Wilford started a trucking company with Edwin Schneider which was Kallmeyer & Schneider Trucking. They ran that together until 1952 when Joy Kallmeyer bought Edwin out. Wilford & Joy owned and operated Kallmeyer Trucking until 1996 when it was sold to Wilford's son Larry. After selling to Larry, Wilford continued to drive a truck until 2010. He also delivered lime for farmers for 17 years from 1993 to 2010 and was one of the co-owners of Kallmeyer-Schroff Auction Service.
Wilford is survived by a son Larry Kallmeyer and wife Linda of Hermann, son Ronald Kallmeyer of Hermann, daughter Tanya Hastings and husband Mike of Berger, Missouri and son Lonnie Kallmeyer and wife Sherri of Huntsville, Missouri, a brother Joy Kallmeyer and wife Carol of Hermann, a brother-in-law Lloyd Stock of Hermann, a grandson Dustin Kallmeyer and wife Chelsie of Hermann, granddaughter Danielle Conley and husband Aaron of Stafford, Missouri, granddaughter Ronna Witthaus and husband Jonathon of Hermann, grandson Travis Kallmeyer of Hermann, grandson Jeremy Kallmeyer and wife Kellie of Jefferson City, Missouri and grandson Ryan Kallmeyer of Denver, Colorado and by four great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, by three sisters Mae Schneider, Cytha Schroff and Edna Stock.
