He went to Maryville Teachers College and graduated in 1916. Earl started teaching and was the superindentent of schools in both Breckenridge and Helena Missouri. He met his future wife, Grace Andrea Trimble while working at Helena School. Grace was a teacher there. They married on July 24, 1918.
Shortly after marrying Grace he went and served in the military as a clerk. On March 29, 1919, he was honorably discharged from World War I. According to the 1920 Census, he was a manager at an insurance company. On October 7, 1923, Earl was admitted to the St. Joseph Bar Association, and became a lawyer. Sometimes in the 1920's Earl and Grace moved to 2318 West Circle Drive in St. Joseph, Missouri. Earl was active in the Democratic Party and ran for the position of State Representative in 1944 and again in 1952, but was defeated.
Earl and Grace had five children, Earl Conrad Borchers was the father of Earl Clay Borchers (1919-1978), Wilma Juanita Craig (1921-1985), Roen Virginia Borchers (1928-1958), Bryce Trimble Borchers (1930-1934) and Blaine Gilbert Borchers (1935-1995). All of their children with the exception of Blaine are buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in St. Joseph, Mo. Earl died on September 29, 1953 of a cerebral hemmorage. Earl is buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery with his wife and four children.
