"Klemmer Kalteissen dies at 89; former N.J. Superior Court judge"
NEW BRUNSWICK- Klemmer Kalteissen, 89, a former Superior Court Judge of the Chancery Division, died yesterday at St. Peter's Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of New Brunswick.
Judge Kalteissen, of George Street, was a 1912 graduate of New Brunswick High School, was then graduated from Rutgers University, and in 1917 received his Bachelor Laws Degree from New Jersey Law School.
He served as an Army officer during World War I.
In 1919, he had served as a deputy surrogate of Middlesex County, and in 1925, he was elected to the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Middlesex County. He was re-elected to that post for five consecutive terms.
In 1935, he was appointed as director of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, and served until 1940, when he was appointed as judge of the Court of Common Pleas.
He later served as presiding judge of th County Court of Middlesex County.
Judge Kalteissen had also served as council for townships and boards of education of East Brunswick, North Brunswick, South Brunswick, and Princeton.
He was president of the Neighborhood House, and was on the board of he Children's Services Bureau, and the Veterans Center, all of New Brunswick. He served in addition as a director of St. Peter's General Hospital, and as a director of Franklin State Bank, New Brunswick.
Judge Kalteissen was the former president of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
In 1964, he retired from the New Jersey Superior Court, Where he was active for three years. He retired from active law practice in 1972.
He was a member of the Middlesex County Bar Association.
Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a/m/ at the Second Reformed Church, 100 College Ave., New Brunswick, with the Rev. James R. Esther, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 S. Adelaide Ave., Highland Park.
Private burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, New Brunswick.
Memorial contributions may be made o the Second Reformed Church, 100 College Ave., New Brunswick.
