Established in 1844, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Newark, New Jersey, encompasses 36 rolling acres and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its Gothic brownstone archway, designed by Thomas Stent and erected in 1877, underscores its Victorian character. Many of the state's departed luminaries are permanent residents here.
