In this tutorial we are going to see how to create aJFrame window. TheJFrame window is the single most important component in a Java Desktop Application. It’s the basic platform in wich you organize all of the application’s components and features. Basically you build your application around it.

It is very simple to create aJFrame window as you simply have to:

  • Create a class that extendsJFrame.
  • UsesetTitle method to set the tile of the window.
  • UsesetVisible method to display the window.
  • It’s highly recommended to shedule a job for the event-dispatching thread to create and show the GUI of the application.
  • Usejavax.swing.SwingUtilities.invokeLater to shedule a job.

Let’s see the code:

package com.javacodegeeks.snippets.desktop;import javax.swing.JFrame;public class CreateJFrameWindow extends JFrame {private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;private static void createAndShowGUI() {  //Create and set up the window.  JFrame frame = new CreateJFrameWindow();  frame.setTitle("Simple Frame");  //Display the window.  frame.setVisible(true);    }public static void main(String[] args) {  //Schedule a job for the event-dispatching thread:  //creating and showing this application's GUI.  javax.swing.SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {public void run() {    createAndShowGUI(); }  });    }}

This was an example on how to create and display a JFrame Window.
