RTP, the Portuguese national broadcaster, has revealed the jury for the semi-finals of Festival da Canção 2024.
The semi-finals jury for Festival da Canção 2024 has been revealed. This jury will decide 50% of the result in both semi-finals. The members of the jury are:
- Gisela João (singer)
- Benjamim (musician)
- Lia Pereira (journalist)
- Miguel Esteves Cardoso (writer)
- Lura (singer)
- Pedro Oliveira (musician)
- Mimicat (represented Portugal at Eurovision 2023)
Festival da Canção 2024 will consist of 2 semi-finals and a grand final, with 10 songs competing in each semi-final and 12 songs competing in the grand final. The semi-finals of Festival da Canção 2024 will be held on February 24 and March 2, with the grand final to take place on March 9. The winner will represent Portugal at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.
The running order of the semi-finals is as follows:
Semi-Final One – February 24
- Nena – “Teorias da Conspiração” (Conspiracy theories)
- Perpétua – “Bem Longe Daqui” (Far away from here)
- Mela – “Água” (Water)
- Mila Dores – “Afia a Língua” (Sharpen the tongue)
- Left – “Volto a Ti” (I come back to you)
- Rita Rocha – “Pontos Finais” (End points)
- Noble – “Memory”
- João Borsch – “Pelas Costuras” (Through the seams)
- Iolanda – “Grito” (Scream)
- Bispo – “Casa Portuguesa” (Portuguese house)
Semi-Final Two – March 2
- Buba Espinho – “O Farol” (The lighthouse)
- Cristina Clara – “Primavera” (Spring)
- Léo Middea – “Doce Mistério” (Sweet mystery)
- Filipa – “You Can’t Hide”
- João Couto – “Quarto Para Um” (Room for one)
- Huca – “Pé de Choro” (Crystalk)
- No Maka ft. Ana Maria – “Aceitar” (Accept)
- Maria João – “Dia” (Day)
- Rita Onofre – “Criatura” (Creature)
- Silk Nobre – “Change”
Mimicat represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool with the song “Ai Coração”. She received 59 points, finishing in 23rd position.

Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest
Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 represented by António Calvário. The country finished last scoring nul points. Prior to 2017, the best result of Portugal was 6th place which came in 1996 when Lúcia Moniz performed in Oslo. She scored 92 points, receiving 12 points from both Norway and Cyprus. Since their debut, Portugal have missed a total of five contests. In 2017, Portugal produced a spectacular win when Salvador Sobral took home the crystal microphone with his song “Amar pelos dois”. The 2018 contest was held in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon for the first time.
