🇭🇷 Croatia: Semi-Finals for Dora 2024?

The Head of Delegation for Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest has spoken of his hopes for Dora 2024.

There’s just a matter of hours to go until the song submissions window for Dora 2024 closes. Tomislav Štengl, the Croatian Head of Delegation has spoken about how he hopes Dora 2024 will be held, and when the final is likely to take place.

Currently, Mr Štengl is hopeful that there will be a return to having a Semi-Final or Semi-Finals for the Croatian selection for the first time since 2011. He is aiming for a total of twenty-four songs to compete to represent Croatia in Eurovision 2024.

The preliminary date for the final of Dora 2024 is February 24. All of the plans for the selection are dependent on the quality of songs that are received by HRT. HRT will also make a decision on how many shows Dora 2024 will consist of by January 10 2024 at the latest.

Let 3 represented Croatia in Liverpool with “Mama ŠČ!” and brought the country to the final for the first time since 2017. They finished 13th in the final with 123 points.

Croatia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. They were one of three countries to debut in the contest that year. Croatia’s best result came in 1999 when Doris Dragović finished 4th in Jerusalem. She performed the song “Marija Magdalena” which scored a total of 118 points, including 12 points from Slovenia and Spain. Croatia returned to the contest in 2016 having withdrawn after the 2013 contest due to a string of poor results and financial difficulties.
