Who is Srbuk?
Srbuk was revealed as the Armenian entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 on November 30. Srbuhi “Srbuk” Sargsyan is an Armenia pop & soul singer. She first rose to fame in 2012, when she became the runner-up of popular show X Factor Armenia. After X Factor, Srbuk decided to form a band to play alongside her at small gigs and shows locally.
Srbuk took a particular interest in Jazz, soul, contemporary pop & R&B. After touring their hometown, Srbuk and her band very quickly gathered a following and began to sell out shows around Yerevan and Armenia, becoming one of the most influential and popular artists in Armenia currently. Srbuk’s selection marks the first time since 2016 that both the Armenian representative and song have been chosen internally.

Armenia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and has participated every year since, excluding 2012. Armenia’s best results came in 2008 and 2014 when they finished 4th in the final. They have twice failed to qualify for the final. The first time was in 2011, when Emmy finished in 12th with “Boom Boom”. She was 1 point away from qualifying for the final. In 2018 Sevak finished 15th in his semi-final with “Qami”, bringing Armenia their worst result to date in the contest.
