EJC holds Executive Committee meeting in Paris

The EJC held its first in-person Executive Committee meeting for the 2025–2029 mandate under the leadership of its President, Dr Moshe Kantor, during which members provided updates on the situation in their respective countries, outlining community responses to rising antisemitism and the difficulties they continue to face.

EJC co-organises October 7th memorial ceremony with the Embassy of Israel to the EU and to Belgium

Moderated by EJC Director of European Affairs Ariella Woitchik, the event, which was attended by the President of the European Parliament, EU Commissioners, and other distinguished guests, was a solemn gathering to remember and honour the victims of the Hamas massacre, and a powerful statement of solidarity and defiance against terror.

At a moment marked by the historic agreement that enabled the liberation of all living hostages held by Hamas, the event featured distinguished speakers such as MEPs Alice Teodorescu Måwe — who hosted the conference — and Sabrina Repp, EJC Executive Vice-President Raya Kalenova, renowned peace advocate Loay Alshareef, Founder and Chair of the Civil Commission on Oct. 7 Crimes, Dr Cochav Elkayam Levy, and Ofri Bibas Levy, sister of former hostage Yarden Bibas, whose wife and two sons were murdered by Hamas.

During the meeting, Executive Committee members provided updates on the situation in their respective countries, outlining community responses to rising antisemitism and the challenges they continue to face.

EJC President and Executive Vice-President visited Budapest and held high-level meetings with senior politicians and the leadership of the Jewish community

EJC President Dr Moshe Kantor and Executive Vice-President Raya Kalenova were invited to Budapest to participate in an important week for the Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary, where they met with the community leadership and senior Hungarian government officials, including Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and European Affairs Minister János Bóka.

EJC and WGAS organise conference in the European Parliament on the dramatic rise of antisemitism in European universities

Hosted by MEPs Sabrina Repp and Nathalie Loiseau, the event aimed to raise awareness of the surge in antisemitism on university campuses across Europe following 7 October 2023, which has profoundly threatened the safety, inclusion, and academic freedom of Jewish students and faculty, impacting entire university communities.

EJC hosts farewell dinner in honour of Israel Head of Mission to EU and NATO Haim Regev

EJC Executive Vice-President Raya Kalenova expressed her warmest wishes to Ambassador Regev, acknowledging the excellent partnership between the European Jewish Congress and the Israeli Mission to the European Union during these challenging times.

EJC President warns of dangerous influence of social media in youth radicalisation at Paris Mayors’ Summit Against Antisemitism

The summit, which brought together elected officials from across Europe, was organised by the Combat Antisemitism Movement and the City of Paris, together with the European Jewish Congress, CRIF, and AEPJ.

Based in Brussels, the European Jewish Congress is the representative umbrella organisation of national Jewish communities. It federates democratically elected national Jewish community organisations in over 40 European countries uniting 2.5 million Jews across the continent.
