This is a proof-of-concept for a dungeon crawling game, made inGB Studio.
THIS IS A PROTOTYPE. The following features are not fully implemented:
You can play the game in browser or download the .gb file to play on a Game Boy Color emulator, such asSameboy. If you have the appropriate hardware, it's also possible to flash the ROM to a cartridge and play on your actual Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance.

The mechanics are a simplified version of the 1981 Tom Moldvay edition of theDungeons & Dragons Basic Rulebook, with some additional material inspired by the David "Zeb" Cook edition of theD&D Expert Rulebook, theRules Cyclopedia edition of D&D from 1991, and the 5e edition of D&D from 2014.

If you download the .gb file, you will need a Game Boy emulator to run it on a computer. I've tested it successfully withSameboy.
If you have the right equipment, you can also flash the .gb file to a cartridge and play the game on an actual Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance! Follow the instructions that came with your third-party cartridge. I've done this successfully with an EZ-FLASH Junior and a SanDisk MicroSD card. I've received reports that it works on several third-party handhelds as well.

Glad you enjoyed it! Writing the dialogue was one of the most fun parts of making the game, if a bit frustrating to code in GB Studio. I thought it was important to capture the fact that theBasic Rulebook is pretty clear that killing everything you meet in the dungeon doesn't have to be your first or only option :)
