The Roland TR-808: The Drum Machine That Changed Music Forever
The Roland TR-808 was a commercial failure in 1980, criticized for sounding too synthetic and discontinued after selling only 12,000 units. Yet this "failed" drum machine became the sonic foundation of hip-hop, trap, and modern pop music. From its analog circuits and sub-heavy kick drum to its influence on artists like Kanye West, Metro Boomin, and Daft Punk, the 808's journey from pawn shops to global dominance is one of music history's most remarkable stories. This comprehensive guide explores the 808's history, technical characteristics, cultural impact, and practical production techniques that make it essential even today.

The Unruly Majesty of Fuzz: A Complete Guide to the Tone Bender and Its Modern Legacy
The Tone Bender stands as Britain's answer to the fuzz revolution, a pedal born from necessity in 1960s London that would go on to define the aggressive edge of British rock. While American fuzzes dominated the early market, the Tone Bender carved its own path through relentless experimentation and circuit evolution. From the raw, gated sputter of the MKI to the refined versatility of later models, each version tells a story of sonic innovation. This comprehensive guide explores every major Tone Bender variant, demystifies the differences between circuits, and reviews the best modern recreations available today. Whether you're chasing Jimmy Page's sustaining leads or seeking that perfect splattered garage fuzz, understanding the Tone Bender family opens doors to some of the most expressive and characterful tones in electric guitar history.

The Best Big Muff Style Pedals: Complete 2025 Guide to Top 10 Picks
The Big Muff Pi stands alongside the RAT and Tube Screamer as one of the holy trinity of overdrive and fuzz circuits that shaped modern electric guitar. Since its 1969 debut, the Big Muff has become the foundation of countless tones across rock, grunge, shoegaze, doom metal, and experimental music. David Gilmour's "Comfortably Numb" solo and Billy Corgan's wall-of-fuzz approach on Siamese Dream defined generations of players' sonic expectations. What makes the Big Muff special isn't just its aggressive sustain or warm compression, but its adaptability. Over five decades, the circuit has been reissued, reinterpreted, and reimagined by boutique builders who understood that one pedal could sound like six different animals depending on its era and components. This guide takes you through the legacy of the Big Muff, breaks down how the circuit actually works, and walks you through some of today's best options whether you're chasing classic lead tones, building a heavy doom rig, or looking for a mix-friendly alternative that won't disappear into the murk.

The Boss PX-1: A Deep Dive into the Plugout FX
The BOSS PX-1 Plugout FX looks like a classic Boss stompbox but operates like a digital ecosystem. This innovative pedal houses 16 authentic recreations of legendary Boss effects, including rare gems like the SG-1 Slow Gear and SP-1 Spectrum that command vintage prices. However, its controversial licensing model treats effects like downloadable content rather than owned gear, creating long-term uncertainties that don't exist with traditional pedals. Our comprehensive review examines whether the convenience and access to rare effects justify the trade-offs in ownership rights.

Excellent Playability and Versatile Tone
"I’ve been playing the PRS CE 24 for several months, and it delivers a very smooth neck, comfortable body, and versatile tone suitable for a wide range of styles. The build quality is excellent, and it stays in tune well. Highly recommended for both studio and live use.

taoyierreviewedLine 6 M5 Stompbox Modeler

orty156reviewedBugera 1960 150w tubes infinium amp
Cheap, but amazing piece of amp.
I wanted some bass amp for home practising and i saw this thing on marketplace. Recently i saw video on YT from Kohle Audio Kult where guy play trough it with bassguitar and it sounded great. So i bought it. I have never played trough tube amp before and i was really surprised how loud it is, even when it have for me "only" 150W. I normally play trough amps that have 600 or more Wats. After while i changed the preamp tubes for better ones becouse the originals had nice sound but had really awful hiss when i turned on the channel 1. Now it sound amazing and it have really full sound with more than enough bass. Of course for home practise i use homemade attenuator becouse its really loud. Only thing i don't really like is master volume control that is built in, becouse it affects the tone alot. That's all i want to say about this amp. One last thing, I am not english speaking person so please tolerate grammatical mistakes in what you just readed.

plusazizreviewedEastwood Hi-Flyer PHASE 4 MT
Great fretboard, powerful versatile tonality
I discovered this guitar Sep' 2023 and committed to a pre-order on Reverb.com. Other microtonal guitars would be more expensive (e.g. Built) so I was excited to discover Eastwood and started my microtonal journey, like so many before
It was ready Feb. 24 and shipped promptly and so I've been playing it for over a year. I am thoroughly impressed with the craftsmanship/construction and how playable this axe has been for me as a rock guy.
It's helping me apply maqam scales and forcing me to delve deeper into music theory. The tone settings are fantastic. They offer as much range as a Tele or SG. I am also able to get synthy, lead tones so it satisfying range. I can't imagine my guitar collection without it!

Big Update: Tag Gear by Color & Year (Starting with Guitars 🎸)
Does that clear it up?
Yeah, but I just noticed there's no tag for fretboard yet, so do we maintain aFender Player II Stratocaster Maple andFender Player II Stratocaster Rosewood entry, or do we just deny any attempt to separate entries based on fretboard wood for now and consolidate into one?
I'm sure you'd rather have the one entry, but people who think fretboard wood choice is a part of their personal religion are going to kick and scream -- so I Just want the official opinion here for all to see.
OOOOoooorrrr, do we still leave entries related to items currently for sale at Sweetwater alone so each one still links to a specific SKU?
