The Executive Council of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) issued a written statement following a meeting convened to assess the latest developments in Northern and Eastern Syria, as well as the threats and crises targeting Kurdish gains in the region.
The KNK said that it finds the Autonomous Administration’s decision for general national mobilization appropriate and added: “KNK gives its full support to the decision for general national mobilization for the gains of Rojava Kurdistan. It calls on all parties, organizations, social institutions, and the peoples of Kurdistan in the country and across the Kurdish diaspora to participate strongly in the general national mobilization.”
The statement pointed out that the Kurdish people have paid heavy prices in their struggle for freedom and independence and believe only in their own will. “It is clear that international powers once again pursue a policy that acts solely in line with their own interests and fails to fulfill its moral and political duty toward the Kurds. The people of Kurdistan possess the determination and the will to continue the struggle for freedom and independence without any doubt or hesitation.”
The statement added: “We know very well that the war against the gains of Rojava Kurdistan has been launched and continues with jihadist and Islamic State mercenary groups, together with the full political, diplomatic, economic, and military-technical power of the Turkish state. At the same time, the Turkish state, together with its allies in this field, is also actively waging war through communication.
We call on all the people of Kurdistan and everyone with a conscience to stand up for their existence and to do whatever is within their means in this period. Today is the day to stand up for Rojavayê Kurdistan. Today is the day to stand up for the honor of Kurdistan and the Kurdish people.”
