Usage notes

[edit]
  • The use of this pronoun, along withos, in ordinary spoken language, is confined to the Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, and Spain. Elsewhere in the Spanish-speaking world, it is found only in oratory, legal, and religious language. In southern Spain (including the Canary Islands), its associated verb forms may sometimes be used withustedes (e.g. "ustedes estáis"). However, this is considered nonstandard.
