By contrast, theshendyt kilt is well attested on Egyptian sculptures of all periods. It was originally used only in royal representations but, from the Old Kingdom, its use extended to private statues.
Theshendyt is thought to be derivative of an early hunting skirt that allowed freedom of movement, yet its method of draping has not been satisfactorily explained.
