CompareAhtnabetlʼes,Chipewyanhatłʼés,Tsuut'inagútłʼìs,Lower Tananatl'esr. Young & Morgan (1992) identify it as potentially being from the verbal root-TŁʼIIZH(to be blue, green),[1] although Kari (2024) views them as different, claiming the root is fromProto-Athabaskan*tɬʼətsʼ, while the noun is from*tɬʼəshʳ.[2]
