Etymology

FromMiddle Englisheȝebreu, alteration ofOld Englishēaganbrū(eyebrow), equivalent toeye +‎brow. The corresponding Old Englishēagbrǣw meant "eyelid". Compare Dutchoogbrauw(eyelid; eyelash; eyebrow), GermanAugenbraue(eyebrow).
