Usage notes

  • Duquel is used with compound prepositions ending inde, such asà côté de,près de,en faveur de (as above).
  • Duquel can also replace the possessivedont(whose). This is overall rare, but it is necessary when the noun phrase is preceded by any preposition:l’homme avec la femme duquel j’ai parlé(the man with whose wife I've spoken).
