  1. (derogatory) One whoadvocates a certaincourse of action, often ofpolitical orsocial concern, and often with thenaiveconviction of their ownmoralsuperiority.
    Prohibition in the United States was an unsuccessful attempt bydo-gooders to save people from the dangers of alcohol, whether they wanted to be saved or not.
